VW 4* This characterful cottage is located within a quiet valley and is close to sandy beaches and rustic pubs. Pet-friendly and sleeping 4 people comfortably, guests are also treated to a locally sourced welcome hamper and views of Wales’ oldest church.

Completely refurbished in 2018, the Old School House retains many original features such as its exposed stonework and cast-iron radiators. A stone’s throw away are three thriving village pubs, a local bakery, a Co-op supermarket, and the Gower Hotel. The property is perfectly located for avid walkers or cyclists, with some of Gower’s outstanding beaches such as Caswell, Langland, Pwll Du and Brandy Cove close by. The Old School House is situated in a secluded valley containing a ford and is in front of one of Gower’s most historic churches; St Teilo’s, a Norman church which can be traced back to 460AD.

As you enter the characterful hallway, with its original stonework and vaulted ceiling, the main bathroom is located to the left. This consists of a double-ended bath with shower over, WC and wash band basin. In the hallway guests can find binoculars, walking sticks, umbrellas, and a torch.

Through the recently exposed Victorian stone doorway, guests enter the cosy, open-plan living area, featuring a lounge/diner and kitchen. The lounge area contains a 2-seater sofa and 2 comfortable armchairs alongside a ‘smart’ TV, Bose surround sound system, and DVD player. We also supply an assortment of family board games, books, DVDs, CDs, and local guides and maps. In the dining area, an antique dining table seats 4. A highchair and children’s dining chair are available upon request.

The kitchen features a single electric oven and 4-ring gas hob, integrated fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. There are also ceiling-fitted Bluetooth speakers, a DAB radio, and USB charging ports. In addition, we leave a welcome hamper for our guests, which includes bread, butter, a bottle of red wine, local Gower beer, eggs, bacon, baked beans, plus marmalade and jam. We also provide staples such as milk, tea, coffee (both ground and instant), a variety of condiments, washing powder, washing-up liquid, and dishwasher tablets.

A stable door leads to a private and secure courtyard garden containing outdoor seating with a parasol, buckets and spades, wet-suit hooks, a hose for boots or paws, and side access leading to the church. This is particularly useful should guests wish to bring bikes or beach paraphernalia with them.

Nightlights are located at the top and bottom of the stairs.

Upstairs is a master bedroom containing a King size bed, dressing table with illuminated make-up mirror and hairdryer, walk-in wardrobe with hanging space and chest of drawers, bespoke blackout blinds, and Amazon echo speaker. The second bedroom features 2 single beds, dressing table with illuminated make-up mirror, and cupboard with hanging space and chest of drawers. Through the window are immediate views of the church and clock tower. A small bathroom off the upstairs landing consists of a WC and large hand basin.

All bed linen and towels are provided. The property has WiFi, gas central heating, and roadside parking, whilst both a travel cot and a dog crate (complete with treats and a towel for muddy paws!) are available upon request. We do not allow smoking, or pets either upstairs or on soft furnishings.

The S Family, October 2018

We have enjoyed the most wonderful week we can remember. Fabulous sunny weather, walks on familiar beaches, and being nestled beneath the church in which we were married in 24 years ago. Being able to return each evening to The Old School House has truly been a home-from-home experience. The comforts and amenities have made our week so very enjoyable. We hope to return and enjoy this experience all over again. Thank you.

What a gorgeous cottage, everything we could need. A fabulous touch the welcome was pack and welcome pack for the dogs too! We have had a lovely few days away, lots of lovely walks along the coastal path enjoying the views and beaches. A beautiful area, stunning scenery and a little bit of seal watching at Rhossili. Glorious weather too! The cottage s one of the nicest we have ever stayed in. Would highly recommend. Thank you so much.

We've had a lovely week at The Old School House. It has been so thoughtfully renovated and has been a very comfortable and relaxing haven for our holiday in Gower. The owners have been very responsive to our queries and couldn't have been more helpful. We would thoroughly recommend the property and hope to come again.

The W Family, July 2018

Oh my goodness! What can I say? This is the loveliest property we have ever stayed in. We were here for Christmas and absolutely loved the Christmas tree twinkling with very thoughtful presents for us underneath it. The hamper was fantastic and the chilled wine in the fridge was most welcome. Even Bob, the patterdale terrier, had goodies left for him too. We would definitely recommend to others and would love to return to this cottage and the beautiful surroundings. Thank you very much
